Individual Therapy

People come to individual therapy for many different reasons. You may be navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, a major life transition, or a period of uncertainty. You may also be seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships, or something that has been difficult to put into words.

Therapy offers space to explore the stories and experiences that have shaped how you see yourself and your life, including the family, cultural, and social contexts in which those stories have developed. We can consider what has influenced the way you see things, what may no longer fit, and what feels meaningful to carry forward.

Our work can also include practical tools for calming the nervous system and staying grounded when emotions feel intense or difficult to navigate. Mindfulness, grounding, and body-based practices can support awareness and create more room for choice in the present.

What We Can Explore

Individual therapy may include working with:

  • Anxiety, depression, or feeling overwhelmed

  • Trauma and distressing past experiences

  • Grief, loss, and significant life changes

  • Relationship difficulties and disconnection

  • Self-doubt, perfectionism, or feeling stuck

  • Questions around identity, sexuality, intimacy, or desire

  • Family experiences and their influence on current relationships

  • Career, creativity, and the challenges of balancing different parts of life

  • Major transitions and uncertainty about what comes next

When the Past Is Still Present

Some experiences continue to affect us long after they have happened. This can show up through anxiety, emotional reactivity, relationship difficulties, or a sense of being stuck, even when you understand that the event itself is in the past.

When appropriate, I incorporate EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches to explore experiences that may be difficult to process through words alone. Learn more about EMDR therapy →

Moving Toward Change

Therapy isn't about being told what to do or becoming someone different. It can be an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, reconnect with what matters, and consider new possibilities.

As awareness grows, there may be more room for choice in how you respond, relate, and move through life. The process can support a stronger sense of clarity, groundedness, and agency.

If you're considering individual therapy, I offer a free phone consultation to talk about what brings you to therapy and whether working together might be a good fit.
