FAQ

Do you offer tele-therapy?

At this time, my practice offers tele-therapy sessions due to COVID-19. We use a HIPPA-compliant platform for all video sessions. Once you set up an initial appointment, instructions will be provided about how to sign in for your first tele-therapy appointment.

Please check back for updates regarding in-person sessions.

What is the first step?

After contacting me via email or phone, we can set up an initial phone consultation, during which we can discuss your needs, experiences with previous therapy, and background of the areas of concern. We will determine together if I or any of my Associates would be a good match for you and set up an appointment for a first session. This consultation is free of charge.

What is your fee?

My fee is $230 per 50-minute session. Typically, I see clients once a week until treatment goals have been reached, however, I work with clients to come up with a time frame that fits their needs. Additionally, I offer a limited number of sliding-scale options. I aim to find a therapy fee that works for both of us. Fees can be discussed over the phone prior to our first meeting.

Do you take insurance?

I do not currently accept insurance, however, I can provide you with a monthly statement to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please contact your insurance provider before starting therapy to verify your coverage.

What if I want to start therapy but can’t afford your rate?

I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots to those who can not afford my fee. Additionally, I have a team of Associates who can offer a lower rate. Please visit my Associates page to learn more about their backgrounds and focus to see if one might be a match for you.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, credit card, or check payments, due before each session.

How long is a session?

Each session is 50 minutes for individuals, couples, and families.

What if I need to cancel a session?

If you need to cancel a session, please cancel 48 hours in advance. Cancellations after the 48-hour window will be charged for the session.

What informs your work?

I am influenced by the ideas shaped by Narrative Therapy. In short, I believe that “the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem” (David Epston and Michael White, 1990). This means that a large part of our work together will involve separating problems and their contributing contexts from a person’s identity. Our work will also consider the hopes, strengths, values, and preferences surpassed by life challenges.
